Solutions for potential challenges facing healthy and distressed businesses, plus a look at what the federal debt ceiling and budget update may mean locally are topics of this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.  
 
Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will be joined by Ben Nicholson, president of Fortis Business Advisors, a performance optimization and asset maximization firm that assists healthy and distressed small businesses transition through change. Nicholson will discuss elements of distress business owners should expect during periods of economic volatility, what can be done to prevent problems, and solutions to potential challenges businesses may already be facing. 
 
With an entrepreneurship background, Nicholson has launched startups in food services, publishing and marketing, professional services, and retail. He holds MBA and BA degrees, and has been published in the Journal of Corporate Renewal, The Secured Lender, ABL Advisor, Troubled Company Reporter, Coleman Report, Retail Dive, and Woman's World. 
   
Economist Mark Evans, an emeritus professor from CSUB will take a look at the current federal budget situation and what the implications are for local businesses and consumers. 
 
The webinar will begin with information on available capital resources programs, tools the SBDC has for local businesses, and weather-related disaster assistance for businesses from local, state, and federal governments. 
 
Questions from attendees will be taken.
