Access to a free Central Valley human resources hotline for employers, and an economic look at the strike by actors and writers are among topics on this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will be joined by Kim Gusman, president and CEO of the California Employers Association (CEA), and Melody Correia, business development director. The pair will discuss the CEA’s Central Valley Regional HR hotline. The free hotline provides answers to human resources questions and issues related to California labor laws for businesses located in Kern, Inyo, Mono, Tulare, Merced, Madera, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, and Tuolumne counties.

Founded in 1940, the California Employers Association is a not-for-profit that provides human resources services to more than 15,000 businesses throughout California in a wide variety of industries.

Also joining the webinar will be economist Mark Evans, emeritus professor from CSUB. Dr. Evans will take a look at the economic impact of the current strike by writers and actors, including potential long-term consequences.

The webinar will begin with Bearden providing updates on the Bakersfield Entrepreneurship Grant Program, capital resources programs, and weather-related disaster assistance for businesses from local, state, and federal governments.

Questions from attendees will be taken.
