A newly opened program to provide technical assistance and capital for entrepreneurs, startup businesses, and small businesses that are income-qualified or located within qualifying census tracts of the City of Bakersfield is the topic on this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will be joined by NaTesha Johnson, Program Director for the Entrepreneurship and Workforce Development at Kern Community College District and Bakersfield College Launchpad, and Nick Hill, President of the Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce to discuss the City of Bakersfield Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Technical Assistance and Grant Program.

As two of three city grant program partners with the SBDC, Johnson and Hill will provide details on how their respective organizations will provide technical assistance to meet training, business advising, and business plan requirements needed by businesses to apply for the 163 grants available.

Bearden will also be joined by economist Mark Evans, emeritus professor from CSUB. Dr. Evans will take a look at behavioral economics and a new Harvard University project to build civil disagreement and negotiating skills.

The webinar will begin with Bearden providing updates on availability of capital resources programs, a look at the economy, and weather-related disaster assistance for businesses from local, state, and federal governments.

Questions from attendees will be taken.

This marks the 283rd episode of the free weekly “Webinar Wednesday” business series that provides news and information helpful to employers and business owners.
